Jakub Pavlík is a visual artist who works primarily with photography and the creation of artist’s books. A common thread running through his projects and artist’s books is often a raw, documentary form that existentially integrates the artist as an integral part of the project as a whole and its narrative, rather than merely as an objective observer. He explores subjective themes with an emphasis on his own imagination and the explicit openness of the visual narrative.
His artist’s books, in particular, often take the form of a diary, where the collection of materials — without any claim to objectivity — gives rise to a highly expressive visual whole that, through its own visual narrative, offers the viewer insight into the essence of the artist’s being.
